SHENZHEN, China--RoboSense, a world’s leading smart LiDAR system technology company, announced today a strategic partnership with TuSimple, a global autonomous driving technology company.
The two partners will focus on the series production of L2 and L4 autonomous trucks equipped with RoboSense’s second generation smart solid-state LiDAR, RS-LiDAR-M1 (hereinafter referred to as M1), to jointly explore automotive-grade LiDAR integrated sensing solutions that can achieve high performance and series production in the logistics and freight scenarios to address the challenges of large-scale series production of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) systems, promoting the large-scale expansion of the commercial operation of TuSimple’s autonomous trucks and unmanned freight logistics networks.
RoboSense and TuSimple have maintained a deep and close cooperative relationship since 2017. As one of the earliest users of RoboSense LiDAR, TuSimple deployed multi-LiDAR integrated sensing systems in its autonomous trucks. This strategic partnership will further deepen and upgrade the scale of cooperation between the two by fully integrate the technology and industrial resources of both partners.
Chunchao Qiu, co-founder and executive president of RoboSense, commented on this strategic partnership: “We are ushering in an era of large-scale mass production and full commercialization of autonomous driving vehicles. This in-depth partnership between RoboSense and TuSimple will further accelerate the reform of the truck and logistics freight industry. RoboSense will facilitate TuSimple’s global expansion of autonomous truck technology and unmanned freight network with its leading smart solid-state LiDAR products and mass production and delivery capacity, and promote the efficient commercial and social value creation of unmanned freight.”
Mo Chen, co-founder of TuSimple, said: “High-performance, automotive-grade and mass-produced LiDAR solutions are an important factor for the autonomous driving systems to achieve large-scale operation. As a global pioneer in the commercialization of autonomous trucks, TuSimple has always emphasized the relationship with high-quality global partners. We believed that the two partners will fully mobilize their respective technical advantages and continue to promote the commercialization of autonomous driving technology.”
As operating vehicles, heavy-duty trucks often need to endure harsh working conditions such as dust, strong mechanical shockand salt spray, which puts higher performance and reliability requirements for LiDAR. As the only smart solid-state LiDAR worldwide to realize automotive grade mass production and delivery, M1 is based on strict truck grade standards. M1 has passed a series of reliability tests including mechanical shock, random vibration, high-pressure water impact, high and low temperature operation, high and low temperature damp heat, solar radiation, EMC, chemical anti-corrosion, salt spray and other tests, and fully meets TuSimple’s high standard safety and service life requirements for trucks. At the same time, M1’s unique smart “GAZE” function can dynamically switch scanning modes according to different scenarios such as high-speed railways, ports and cargo transfer stations, to meet the need for differentiated scenario perception of autonomous trucks.
RoboSense always pursues results nothing short of perfection, explores more difficult commercial vehicle operation scenarios of all kinds, leverages the advantages of large-scale mass production, and effectively collaborates with partners to accelerate the mass application of autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems in the field of commercial vehicles.
